Robert Cameron's photographic career began in 1933 as a news photographer for the Des Moines Register. During World War II he worked for the War Department as a civilian photographer. After a stint in the New York City business world he migrated to San Francisco where he self-published his first ABOVE book in 1969. Since that time there have been 16 additional titles reaching a total of over three million copies in print.
Sadly on November 10, 2009, five months shy of 99 years old, Mr. Cameron passed away. Although best known throughout his life as the publisher of 'ABOVE BOOKS', Photography will be Mr. Cameron’s legacy – his gift to future generations. Tony Cameron, Tim Hall and Gene Kahn have partnered to promote this legacy.
Ten percent of all sales from Mr. Cameron’s photographs will build a $50,000. annual scholarship fund. Fully funded there will be twenty seven annual awards – focused on the three core ingredients for successful photography: capture, printing and sales.
Great Kolor is the sole agent authorized to sell Cameron/Hall images and certifies that every photograph originates from Mr. Cameron’s original film.
